Kitchen flooring
Hello, we are in the process of designing our kitchen, and we are unable to agree on a good floor option. We are design-focused and want something that is both modern + attractive, and practical. , i.e aesthetically pleasing, modern, neutral, contemporary, but also something that cleans up well, is easy to maintain etc. We use our kitchen often, have kids, and live in a 3rd floor apartment. We’e considered Terrazo, marmoleaum, rubber etc. No idea too crazy! Would love some ideas for places we haven’t considered + Pros & cons. Thank you!!!

Im really liking these large format tiles. You can have minimal grout lines for a clean modern look.

I installed marmoleum click tiles in my kitchen over 10 years ago and I love it. It’s held up really well. The click tiles are really easy to install, no glue. It comes in a ton of colors.

A lot of the options you mention are great, tho may not be so forgiving if you’re going to be standing and cooking for a long time (I’m looking at you, terrazzo)!
The marmoleum would be a great bet. That stuff has come a long way since I last looked at it! I’m assuming it would be nice underfoot.
What about LVP luxury vinyl plank? If you want durability with some comfort if you’re standing and cooking for a while-
I love love LOVE cork and had it installed in a living room/entry about ten years ago and it did not wear well at all. And I babied that floor. Babied it! No heels, was exceedingly careful moving anything, inspected anything that came in house for anything sharp on bottom, etc. I know people DO install it in kitchens (my empty nester inlaws just did) but I just can’t see it wearing well there, especially with kids. Mine was pretty dented and scratched after just a few years with no kids and utmost care.
Ten years ago though, cork was nowhere near as popular as it is now, so maybe the finishes/production quality has improved greatly in that rather lengthy time period.
Pro on cork is that it feels absolutely AMAZING underfoot. Nothing like it.
