How to remove old cabinet pulls?
Hello friends, I am replacing old cabinet pulls, but the previous owners painted the cabinets without removing the pulls first. They are now painted to the cabinets and are almost impossible to remove. How do I remove them without damaging the cabinet doors? Best regards John marrison

2 MORE OPTIONS: If you can’t sand down the paint on the screw head of your handles. get some heavy duty paper and tape down around the screw head covering all areas of the door (except the screw head). Buy a small can of peel away and just dab it on the screw head. Cover it with the peel away paper and tape down the edges to keep air out. I 24 hours lift away the peel away paper and the paint should have disolved enought for you to wipe it away and then drill the screw out. Option 2\. Heat gun. Just be careful not to scorch the cabinet wood.

Presuming your cabinet pulls are fastened from the back of cabinet with screws: take a heavy grit sanding block and sand down to expose the metal screw head. Determine what type of screwdriver you need and hammer into the existing grooves with said screwdriver until the paint is mainly broken free. DO NOT attempt to unscrew the pull yet. Take an exacto knife and score around the outline of each screw as deep as possible. Take a hairdryer and heat up each area to soften the existing paint if scoring with knife doesn’t work initially. (Last thing you want to do is strip the screw head!!)

you can try to cut through the paint where the pulls meet the cabinet with an exacto knife or box cutter
