Best Places to Find One-Wall Kitchen Cabinets in Brooklyn

Looking to outfit a one-wall kitchen in Brooklyn for a studio apt. I need good-quality cabinets that are functional, stylish, and fit a compact layout. Prefer local stores or showrooms where I can see options in person, but online suggestions with Brooklyn delivery work too. Budget-friendly options welcome, but quality matters.

Any recommendations on where to look or stores you’ve had a good experience with?

in that statement below, i meant to say “manufacturers cannot take the time to manufacture large quantities of this stuff to guess at what color will sell to have it sit in ware houses.”

good quality and budget friendly anything do not go together but especially not with anything around the house. it used to be that there was top quality and then a mediocre grade and then junk. now a lot of stuff is crap import or top shelf.

most of the top shelf stuff will have to be custom ordered from shops. Manufacturers take the time to make large quantities of this product to have to guess at what colors will sell to have them sit in warehouses.

home depot used to have “knock down” cabinets (might still. lowes might carry them). they were cut and ready to assemble but these were real garbage – stuff for low end rental apts.

i have assembled and installed ikea. for what they are, they are ok quality.

what you might want to do is find someone selling or giving away really good top quality used cabinets. even if the door style (look they are plain boxes with doors and trim that set them apart) is not what you like, if they are used top shelf cabinets, it might be worth getting new doors made from a shop or a place like Rockler (not sure if they still do this).

look on line. it won’t matter if you cannot see them in person because if you do not know what quality is, you will be shopping by appearance and appearance can be seen on line (by the way, to me, quality means made of plywood and not mdf with solid wood face frames and doors with solid wood stiles and rails and solid wood panels as opposed to doors made to look traditional but made of formed mdf: when you see the price of this kind of stuff new, if budget is a priority, you will end up looking at whatever at Ikea or on line).

here are the widths and this will help you as you shop: 12, 15, 18, 21, basically every 3″ from there, so 24, 27….. because measurements are standardized, if you find good used cabinets, there is a good chance you will make them fit your wall.

quality for the middle class is becoming something of the past.
