Health Insurance for Household Help

I would like to provide health insurance for a household employee who provides onsite eldercare for a loved one.  She makes too much money to be eligible for low income insurance plans.  I was thinking of going through the Freelancers Union.  Any other suggestions, or advice about taking this route?  Thx, all!!

Check out Healthy New York : http://www.dfs.ny.gov/healthyny/index.html – they have subsidized health insurance through a variety of insurance co’s for small businesses (including household employers) and individuals/sole proprieters. It is significantly less expensive than Freelancer’s Union. I’ve had good experience with Empire BCBS and Oxford/United Healthcare through this program. GHI through Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce is one of their providers but they can’t figure out how to insure household employees – believe me I’ve tried.

Look at the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce website. They have a high deductible GHI plan that you might be able to use. The Rent Stabilization Assoc also offers a plan.
