Resizing a cabinet

I need to have a formica clad cabinet cut down by about 2 inches (from the top) which would involve removing the top and cutting off some and replacing the top, and cutting the doors at the top.  This then would have to be installed on top of the refrigerator where it originally was, but a new fridge was too tall. Any recommendations for a handyman or someone experienced with this project.   It’s a very small job and we would prefer it to be done on the site.

Isabelle – did you ever get the cabinet resized? I’m running into a similar issue with a builtin cabinet above my fridge. I wan to resize it to accommodate a larger fridge. thx!

Even though you said you want it to match, there are lots of good looking kitchens with cabinets that don’t match.  Maybe you could just have a plain cabinet built and paint it the color of the walls or something whimsical.  You could have an open shelf if it’s a problem matching cabinet doors.

The cut down version will look bad and it will be cheaper to buy a new cabinet
