Roof leak
Trying To find source of roof leak. brick house with a Flat roof, twice after large snowfalls ( over 18 inches of snow)within past three years ceiling in one of rear bedrooms sustained water damage, water was also dripping out from ceiling light fixture junction box. Roof slopes to back of house, bedroom is in back of house. Does not leak when raing just heavy snow. One time gutter was frozen when leaked, other time not sure if gutter frooze. I plugged gutter and filled with water, and sprayed back of house including under gutter and id not observe and water damage. Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks.

I am guessing your roof is also very shaded or facing north, so that the sun does not thaw the ice and snow very quickly, if at all? You are getting ice dams; water sitting on a roof will find a way out that will not be a leak when the the water flows, as in a summer storm, but when it gets dammed up by ice blockage it will seep through, finding its way inside your house. So keep your gutters clean and install heat tapes that work on a thermostate, so that the ice does not form causing the ice build up..
