Plumber Recommendation

I recently had to replace my boiler and really spent a lot of time interviewing plumbers and trying to understand the process of properly sizing the system (steam).   Petri plumbing are the only guys that did it properly (as best as I can tell) and they’ put it a large amount of effort into identifying other issues with my system that could be adjusted to make it heat more efficiently and quietly.   The work itsel was great too – I can’t say enough good things.  The only downside is that they were at the high end of my quotes.  I’m a haggler by nature but some things are worth paying for and this definitely was.   http://petriplumbing.com/

Memo is a crook. I hired him to fix a leaky toilet. First he told me that I needed to replace a cast iron pipe, which I later found out from another plumber was completely unnecessary. Next he sent one of his colleagues to perform the work. That guy didn’t do the job properly and ended up causing about $400 in damage to my property. Memo said he would pay for the repair work but more than two months and several angry phone calls later I’m still waiting to be reimbursed. I can’t speak for the father but the son can’t be trusted.

artdis – Glad you used him.  He is very good at what he does and I only use him.  He is worth every penny…I never argue the price with him.  After the recent storm where we had 3 inches of rain in one day, he showed up at my building at 11pm to take the water heater apart and dry the lighting element so my tenants would have hot water when they get up in the morning for work.

I just called Miguel and got his son Meno, who came over at 7pm straight from a day at work. He isolated the problem immediately and for just $50.00 it was solved. And he is going to give me a follow up on recommendations from a friend of his that can deal with the larger problem – which has to do with dirty mains from the house to the street and water filtration. Great recommendation, couldn’t be happier, he didn’t waste my time, was honest, to the point, took the extra effort, called his father when he wasn’t sure. What a relief!

Hi Yaniv.  I can vouch for Miguel, not his son.  However, I had a few projects where Miguel had his son with him.  Also, I know that his son works for a plumbing company and was trained by Miguel…however, his son never worked on one of my projects by myself.  That said, if Miguel ensures that his son will do the work poperly, I would allow his son to do the work (especially if its nothing too complicated).  If anything goes wrong Miguel will step in.  Miguel actually helped me big time few days ago…after the heavy rain in park slope my water heater was under water and socked.  He showed up at midnight to take it apart, dry it and have it working.  The tenants had hot water before work the next day.

Landlord 11215 – I contacted this plumber at the 917-912-2110 number, upon your recommendation. However, I’ve been working with someone claiming to be Miguel’s son, a guy named Memo. Can you confirm that Memo and Miguel are affiliated? I am about to trust them with about $1500 worth of work based on meeting a few different plumbers and also based on your recommendation.
