new windows

I want to replace existing white double hung vinyl windows in a two family brick townhouse. Would like to us black double hung Windows that are reasonably priced. Anyone have any suggestions/recomendation on brand, type, frame, etc. Thanks

I have Pella’s in two properties and they have been great. They close extremely tightly.

We have a mix of Pellas, Andersen and Marvin. The Marvins are far and away the best but very expensive. Hate the Pellas. Maybe they were poorly installed but I think they’re under-built. They no longer close tightly which defeats the whole purpose in this climate. Andersen’s have been fine — just not as good-looking or heavy as the Marvins. The Marvin screens don’t bother me even though the push pins are a little fiddly.

Pellas are great. Slightly cheaper in price, I would use Andersen over Marvin because I don’t like the design of Marvin’s push pin screens. Don’t go cheap on windows. You’ll pay for it forever.

I used Pella Architect series, the sight lines (frame) match the traditional double hung. IT is a wood window with aluminum clad on the exterior and black is a standard color.These are replacement windows. If you want cheaper there is a Chinese window manufacturer near classon up by Pratt US custom windows ?? (I think)…they will build anything for you.
