Forced air boiler repair/diagnosis
I have a newish forced air heating system. (Installed in Nov. 2012) For some odd reason it hasn’t been working correctly for the last month, ie not heating the house, and I’d like a local HVAC person to check it out and/or service it. I’ve been told it may be the chimney, so I had that swept, however, it still isn’t working. I’ve also heard that I may need my chimney relined but before I go that route I want to make sure it’s truly not an issue emminating from the heating system proper. Anyone dealt with something like this before and/or could recommend a person to check it out or how it was resolved for them? I’m located in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. Thanks!

I would suggest you to get new Chimney for your boiler. If the company where you got the boiler has given you 1 year warranty … then they will and they have to fix the problem. If they failed to and you need solution for the problem or new product then I suggest you to hit this page http://www.power-technology.com/contractors/boilers/ where you will find persons who can give you the solution as well as the required products …. hope this will help you

If your chimney is blocked the spill switch on your furnace might be shutting it down when it detects excess CO levels. This is a good thing, since the alternative might well be death from carbon monoxide poisening.

It was installed 5 months ago? Why not call the installer back? Don’t you have a 12-month warranty at least?

If you can be more specific I would bet someone here can pinpoint your issue. Force air systems are pretty basic: you have a flame, a blower, some ducts and a thermostat. If the system used to work, but now doesn’t, then one of those 4 things is not right. If it never worked right then that is another matter and you need it all to be assessed on site. Tell us what is doing and not doing.
