staining exterior brick a different color

Anyone have any experience with this? I see a number of companies online that offer this service, but wonder if this is a Bad-Idea-jeans kind of thing. Obviously, painting over brick is not good. Thanks!

Please do not coat the facade. Bricks are designed to absorb some moisture that eventually evaporates, and most of the coatings that state that they are “breathable” in fact rarely are. There are some stainers but the results I have seen are mixed. Why are you looking to do this? If you want to refresh the look of your facade then you might want to conside re-pointing the joints with a different color or treat the brick with a cleaner?
