Roy D Construction for brownstone facade

I have sees Roy’s work done in Carroll Gardens for many years, but have never spoken to any of the building owners. The work looks great and has held up very well, but I would like to know if anyone has had recent experience working with him. Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

We had Roy D do our house about 15 years ago. Roy’s price quoted was what we paid, even after we discovered a minor mistake which he fixed/changed without argument (and without extras). While we were under construction, we discovered a couple of other things we wanted done (cement in front yard broken up while there were air-hammers on site anyway and the entry way under the stoop repaired and re-pointed). We paid for the extras we requested after the contract was signed, and his price was fair. We have recommended Roy for a number of jobs, and he’s done well for our friends also. I’d recommend him without reservation.

Thanks resident2\. Was the price that he quoted you the price that you paid? I’m curious about overages due to unforeseen issues, etc. Also, is he fully insured?

Yes, he has done one of my Fort Greene Brownstones. He gets very booked up, so you probably will have to wait a while for your turn. But it is worth it. His work lasts, he has been around for 20 +/- years. You do not stay in business that long in Landmark districts that long if you do shoddy work. Other cheaper quotes will not get the color, texture mix right and after a few winters the color goes off, streaky, patchy etc and the texture does all manner of strange things from cracking to flaking and chipping easily. But not with Roy D’s work.
