need someone to fix iron post attached to brownstone steps

We live in a brownstone with the usual outdoor staircase going up to the parlor floor.  The railings are iron and they begin at the bottom with a big post with a knob on top. That post used to be fixed to the brownstone steps, but has it come loose.  The post needs to be reattached to the steps, I would guess by drilling into the steps, but I’m not sure. I’m don’t know whether to call an iron work company or a facade company, or maybe someone else. Can anyone offer thoughts or recommendations on who to call?  Thanks.

I’ve had Lopopolo Ironworks do a couple projects for me and they did a great job and a really fair price– I know others have used them too with good results.  They’re worth at least getting a bid from.

One of the balusters on my iron stopp railing became detached and I had to have it reattached to the stoop at the bottom and to the handrail at the top.  I called 3 different iron workers (not including the very expensive but competent Vinny’s) and got three wildly divergent quotes.  The first was $450, the second was $750 and the third was $200.  I’m not kidding.  I went with the $200 guy and it turned out fine.  His name is Jerry – 718-290-3445.

Try Vinnie’s italian iron Works.  they will respond fast and give you a price that they’ll do it for but they won’t be the cheapest out there.
