Do sheet metal cornices need to be capped?

We are buying a flip (I know) and they’ve put in a new cornice but it is not capped. 1\. Is it a code requirement? I couldn’t find any thing on it. 2\. What happens if it isn’t capped? Does it increase the load and make it less stable?

contact one of the contractors recommended on the forum and ask for an estimate. I’m pretty sure this has to be seen in person to give you an accurate idea. (IMHO it shouldn’t be a deal breaker)

Exactly. Is it really so expensive to put the cap on? We are trying to determine if it is a deal breaker, one thing among several “little” things. Any idea how much it will cost to cover?

What do you mean by “not capped”? Squirrels can run from end to end? The top is open to collect all the flying leaves and garbage?
