Path to legalize backyard shed in Prospect Heights.

Hello,

I any recommendations on expeditors who have experience working with DOB on legalizing an existing backyard structure? From my online research there are lots of expeditors, but wasn’t sure if all services are the same, and if my situation of trying to legalize an existing structure is unique.

So a “shed” according to the nyc dob is something less than 120 sq feet and not permanantly affixed to a foundation. There is a height restriction as well. If what you have sounds like this, it does not need to be filed.

If you have something larger than that, with a footing or foundation or masonry walls it may be some sort of other building. A garage. That is a different beast but if i had one in my yard and nobody said anything about it, i would not be running down to the dob.
