Lowe's or Home Depot for plants?

Hi all, 
Which store is better for buying plants, flowers etc,  Home Depot or Lowe’s?  I’ve gone to Shannon’s on Fort Hamilton Ave. over the last couple of years, but have found them a little pricey. Thanks

I’ll 2nd the slight preference for the Coney Island Home Depot on Cropsey – it’s a smallish HD, and just seems like a nicer HD overall, certainly a nicer experience for shopping than the one on Hamilton Ave or the one on the Belt on the way to JFK airport.  Another place I like buying plants is the garden place in Bay RIdge at the SE corner of 92nd and Fort Hamilton, Hamilton Landscape and Garden Supply – I’ve had some language barriers with the people who work there (I believe they speak Spanish and my Spanish isn’t that great) but the selection is great and prices are fair, and it’s a fairly big place.

The HOME DEPOT down on Cropsey Ave has a great garden section.  Best “city” one I’ve seen.  Huge, well kept outdoor selection.  Even though we live within a short distance of the Hamilton Home Depot and the 2nd Ave Lowes, if you have a car, we find it’s worth the trip.

The trick to buying at HD is to get the plants as soon as they come off the trucks…  They don’t seem to get a lot of care once they arive and sit around for a week or two.

I second Terminal Market.  I found the selection better and prices lower than Lowes/HD. Example:  4 pack of tomato seedlings only $1.99\.  I planted my whole garden for about $12.00  1 plant at Lowes = $3.00

I tend to go to lowes for plants, only because it’s closer and easier to get to by foot. They have a good selection and nice plants outdoors too.

was in lowes just last night and they had some good stuff. I find that home depot is slightly better.
If you’re in the area of lowes stop by Mazzone’s hardware on court and 4th pl (?)…they have a surprisingly good selection and they’ve actually ordered specific plants that i’ve been looking all over for (munstead lavendar).

Terminal Market is terrific -it’s where many stores buy their plants.  Also Farmers’ Mkts. at Borough Hall & Grand Army Plaza have plants but they’re pricier.  Ditto Botanic Gdn.  HD guarantees theirs – don’t know if Lowe’s does.  But plants at both often look pretty bedraggled.

Home Depot tends to have a lot more plants, but I’m a new convert to Brooklyn Terminal Market.  Just google it. It looks like alleys but drive down and find a spot and roam around.  There are several plant stores scattered on the little streets there.  Some have great house plants as well as garden plants.
