energy efficient skylight and fire code

Is there a solution that would allow me to NOT use chicken wire dome Skylights? Has anyone had success to pass an alternative through inspection? I would like to try one of these solutions, in both cases I would put an exterior fall protection in place (a metal cage on the roof covering the skylight): A) non operable skylight with ducted venting through the wall B) solar powered electric opening skylight with huge red activation button (‘in case of fire press here’) The code reads: “…shall be provided with a skylight at least nine square feet in area, glazed with plain glass with a wire screen over and under and provided with fixed or movable ventilators having a minimum open area of forty square inches”

Thanks Hawaiismurf. I currently have a non operable Velux installed, but I need to trash it and find a different solution. The problem is mainly how I can vent the skylight that´s 20 ft above
