DOB definition of

Hi, I will participate in “Habitat for Humanity” building project and just received a message, that I will need to wear “work boots”. Aparently DOB checks worksites and gives tickets if it see volunteers not wearing appropriate work boots on the site. Can someone explain to me what is considered to be these workboots? I know, I cannot use stiletos or sneakers. Can I use hiking boots with ruber soles?   thanks
