Do I need a permit (DOB or landmarks) for bluestone in my front yard
I own in the landmark part of Cobble Hill, and want to add a couple of bluestone slabs to my already-bluestoned front yard. Do I need a permit to do the work? The part I’m filling in used to be concrete – I removed the concrete years ago to extend the patch of garden in front, but that ended up being too much garden for me to take care of. My contractor thinks not, since it’s not on the sidewalk nor the facade of the building.

You don’t help professional help with the application. Just follow the links cupola supplied or hunt around on the LPC site. It’s pretty straightforward and — for homeowners — LPC is not a bad agency to work with.

you have to get permission to do that kind of work because their property is land mark, is a company that can help you with that kind of permission they will look at the work you want to do and they handled the permit that takes at least 4 weeks to make land marks such permission may take longer, after obtaining the permit, and would require the permission of the department of Transportation and with that you can do your job. the advantage is that landmarks a permit when they do so for a long time. good luck I say the person called Carlos and the phone is 9178346170 many jobs for stone.

Could this run up against the new city laws about minimum amounts of greenary in yards?

Anything thats visible from the street is needs to be permitted by landmarks for any repairs.

Landmark yes, it will be pretty easy as they will like that you are replacing concrete with bluestone.
