Ideas for selling demolition materials (old boilers, wood floors, etc.)?
We are closing on a Brooklyn frame house that was renovated in 2007 with rental grade furnishings in most of the house. We are planning to upgrade certain things, but since some of the items are not super old, we were wondering if anyone had success selling these types of materials? For example, we will be replacing the heating system, which currently consists of two boilers and hot water heaters — one boiler is about 40 years old, while the other is only 7 years old. We will also be removing the current hardwood floors, which are about seven years old. Any thoughts for saving a bit of money by selling these? Is it best to try to sell them piecemeal?

You will be lucky to find people that will be haul it away for you for nothing, saving you labor & dumpster money. Put ads on Craigs list; All the metal will go fast, old boilers, plumbing etc. The metal recyclers will pick it up. The hardwood floors….it takes too much labor to sort through it to relay it, time is money. It is cheaper to buy new and lay it easily.
