Where can I buy an access door for bathroom ceiling?

I have a couple of apartments that were built with a hatch or access door in the bathroom ceiling. They help a lot in detecting sources of leaks in the ceiling. Allows me to see the space and piping between floors without breaking through the ceiling. They are about two feet square. I’d like to put one in another apartment. I tried searching the Home Depot and Lowes websites but got nothing.

I sell Elmdor access doors. I stock the plastic ones, but they do have metal ones available. Go to your local plumbing supply house and ask them. Try Bruce supply on 18th ave. in Brooklyn. They’re my friendly copmpetition.

If it is a fire rated ceiling, say there is an apt above and wood joist floors, then you will need a fire rated hatch, unless this is a dropped ceiling with the fire rated ceiling above.

Go to home depot and look.  They have these doors in the store, small and large, metal and plastic.  If I recall the plastic ones are in the duct work area which is a sub section of the plumbing area.  the metal doors are in the masonry area, I think. Steve
