spray foam insulation for soundproofing

Does anyone have experience with spray foam insulation for soundproofing?  I’m in a 100 yrs old coop with plaster walls and hardwood floors, and have a noisy neighbor downstairs (drums, stereo).  Someone suggested looking into this foam but I’m not sure how effect it is, or whether it could be blown between his ceiling and my floor.  Thoughts and suggestions?  Thanks.

Foam will worsen the transmission.

Hard to say, as the noise downstairs is being injected into his walls (that hold up your floor), as well as into his ceiling (which is connected to your floor). So sound is getting to you through several avenues. With soundproofing, we are looking to treat the noise as close to the source as possible, otherwise we’re chasing it all over. I suppose your neighbor feels this is your problem only?

Foam is the worst thing for soundproofing. There is a great deal of solid lab data on this. Foam conducts a vibration. Soundproofing = mass. While people intuitively look at insulation as an answer, it just doesn’t deliver. You need 5/8″ drywall deployed peoperly.
