Recommendations for contractors who specialize in roof decks

Hello all! My 10-unit co-op in the landmarked section of Fort Greene is hoping to build a roof deck on top of our building in time for summer. I’d love to get the process started but don’t even know where to begin. I’m hoping folks in the Brownstoner community can recommend contractors they’ve used to build roof decks on their property who can also guide us through the permit process. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated — thanks in advance!

Al Terry at New York Decks – he was recommended to me by Fred at Premier Roofing, a very well respected roof contractor and highly regarded.recommended by the Brownstoner community. We’re discussing a roof mounted on pod legs with 2×2′ tiles of ipé wood slats that are screwed down onto a frame. Quick and easy to remove each tile, and even the frames and pod legs to access the roof itself. I feel reassured that the guy who’s replacing my roof (and guaranteeing it) recommended a deck builder who will be laying a pod deck that will rest on top of it. There are a couple of other firms who build and supply similar pod designs. Check out a company called Bison that has products with wood and stone tile http://www.bisonip.com/index.php
