Expansion joint
Hoping someone can help. Completed an extension in the back of my three-story building a couple of years ago and per what I believe is DOB code, an inch or two space was left between my house and my neighbors. I would like to have that filled in with an expansion joint (I believe this is the correct term) as my neighbor is concerned about water seeping in and doing damage. Anybody go through this before? Any recommendations on contractors who can deal with it? Thanks in advance.

The gap between buildings is for seismic movement and is a code requirement, starting circa 1995\. The term ” expansion joint ” is correct. A roofer or a carpenter should be able to install this – IF they know what you are talking about

I think flashing is the more appropriate term/product. Any good roofer or restoration outfit should be able to handle it.
