Engineer to Supervise Construction Contractors

We are a small multi-unit building in Brooklyn with some foundation and water issues. Our builder will be bringing in contractors to perform repairs, but we’d like an engineer to supervise the process, to make sure it’s done correctly. A different engineer has already prepared a scope of work which the builder has agreed to follow. Can anyone please recommend a qualified engineer to supervise the work and perhaps suggest what the typical cost of such work should be? Thanks in advance.

Two thoughts. Is there any reason why the engineer who generated the plans can’t supervise and sign-off on the work? It may be more cost effective to hire an independent construction manager to oversee the work.
