Ardex flooring
I would like to install a white cement floor with an epoxy glossy finish in the bathroom.
The contractor suggested time ago Ardex. Has anyone ever used this material before?
If so, is it comparable to cement?
thanks

i’ve been looking into paraam from duraamen and it seems a good substitute to ardex. Have you used it before?

thanks! I also called the Ardex company to ask a few questions but they say it cracks with any wood subfloor. I assume it never happened to you.
Would cement floor be a good substitute? What is the thinnest layer of cement I can have?
There is 1-1/2″ to work with, above the subfloor. Is this enough?

Yes, you can apply it over wood. The subsurface has to be primed with Ardex primer.
Something like this: http://www.tools4flooring.com/ardex-p51-concentrated-primer-1-gallon-p-985.html

Ardex is a cement based product line. I’ve been working with Ardex for about 16 years, and it holds up.
Epoxy is something else altogether. There are other product lines on the market as well.
We are hiring a concrete floor specialist today, and he has shown us numerous samples of what can be done with the materials he uses.
For a bathroom, you especially want to consider a non-slip surface.
