Renovation/construction

  So grateful to Gregg Resnick of Alllied Arborcraft Corp, (RenovateNY.com) for completing an entire gut reno of my Brownstone on 6th Avenue. I scanned Brownstoner.com last summer to find the right contractor l and found several well recommended ones. Out of 5, 3 gave competitive paper bids and it was difficult, I l could have worked with any of them but Gregg had been also referred by our architect, Len Herczig, so we went with him. So glad we did. He was just superb. The company was founded by his father, hence the funny nameand Gregg grew up in the business . His ethics and conduct is in honor of this father His knowledge is extensive and a couple of his workers have been with him for almost 3 decades. Another 15 years, and all say they love working for him. Here are some reasons why he worked for our Brownstone renovation: He is a great contractor with an extensive knowledge of the management aspects of a job: pace, work flow and overlap of subs etc. His word is his bond, he follows up on questions/concerns, always got back to me right away. He is punctual. Never missed a day or started late. He covers his jobs well and always has a foreman on the site. Rarely a day where he did not come by. He negotiates in good faith. He has deep subcontractor relationships and managed the problems with skill and good outcome, always communicating with me. His crew respects him. His price was good. He finished on time. He is good natured and has a great sense of humor. My project Brownstone was 60 years neglected, shabby but with alot of detail left. The demo was a two week long project, Gregg??s guys careful not to take down parts I wanted to keep. From there we rolled with the timeframe we agreed on at onset. Gregg worked with me to reuse moldings and doors and other details most would have discarded ( a passion of mine). He was respectful of my wishes in all regards so that old moldings were saved and replastered, doors moved and refitted with old moldings or new doors were bought in some places and with new moldings, plinths and surrounds fit seamlessly in.
