Thinking of using Vanderbilt Design Build?

Don’t! They used to be Clinton Hill Design Build, and then became Vanderbilt Brownstones, Kitchens, and Baths. Their principals badly mismanaged the funds for our renovation, and ended up walking off the job leaving about $20,000 of work undone (that we had already paid for). Their weekly statements were lovely works of fiction, as we found out they were not paying the subcontractors, putting us at risk for lawsuits. Subs worked without supervision, making mistakes that cost us to correct. Our “brand new” heating plant was installed incorrectly–requiring close to $8,000 to fix. Please, save yourself the heartache and stress and money and use someone else.

They don’t supervise subs, they don’t follow up on proper permits, and testing, they don’t pay many of their subs. The result is liens on your property. Some subs are owed in excess of $20,000\. They don’t know what the word “flashing” means or what it is, hence persistent leaks. They rely on new customers that they lure by underbidding to secure a deposit. That deposit is then used to pay off debts from other ongoing jobs. As of 11/23/2011 there were  $191,000 in liens against Nick Haven from just the Commissioners of the State Insurance Fund. Other liens rage from 7K, 12K, 15K from State of New York, Marjam Supply etc.
