Stucco and Brick Pointing Costs?

I was wondering if someone could guide me as to what I should expect to pay for the following: New concrete stucco over an existing (but new) block wall. Roughly 1300 square feet. The house is 3 stories tall. Removal of paint on front facade bricks, pointing as needed and painting of existing cornice. (two stores of bricks and square footage of bricks is roughly 400 square feet.) I have estimates set up with 3 contractors for next week but like to get an idea of what this should cost me so I don’t go into this blindly. Thanks

Impossible to know because it totally depends on the condition of the bricks and mortar, what kind of scaffolding you need, etc, etc., so other than estimating that its a low 5 figure job, numbers from this forum aren’t going to be worth anything.  A few things to look out for:  1) The bids are likely to be all over the place, and beware the lowest.  Scaffolding alone can cost you $4-5K, so make sure it’s part of the bid.   If your bricks are pre 1900, make sure they are quoting you for lime-based mortar or you will have problems down the road.   If they tell you lime-based mortar is not necessary, politely refuse their services.  You may want to ask them if they are familiar with the Landmarks spec for mortar.    These jobs, done right, are expensive; make sure you are going with a quality mason so you don’t have to re-do it in a few years.
