Structural engineer choice

Would contributors on here recommend working with a structural engineer you know and have worked with, but who has limited experience with old town houses. Or, try and find one who has worked on and has knowledge of town house renovations? I have worked closely with an SE for roof garden installations for many years. I had thought I’d use him to review (and sign & seal as needed) work I’m considering for a Bed Stuy house I’m in contract for. The work would include possible repair of main beam columns, review of recently installed steel columns at either end of main beam, removal of a walls on the parlor floor and exterior deck/ stairs installation at parlor level.
