Renovation estimate

We are thinking about making an offer in a 1500 sf limestone coop and we are just wondering how much would cost to renovate the place. Our wish list is a new floor, central air, redoing a bathroom, adding a second bathroom + wash and dryer and renewing the kitchen. Thanks in advance!

It’s really difficult to put numbers with such a less information. As an estimate, I think it costs about $ 200,000 – $ 300,000 approximately. Online pros can help you for proper cost estimation of project, time duration and many more things. Good Luck…!!

Guys, Thank you so much for your help. August is right, I just don’t know what takes to renovate in NYC. But this was super helpful to get an idea, we are planing to sit down with a contractor and an architect to see what’s feasible with our budget.. if we get the place. Really appreciate your help!

Also, if you don’t plan on living there while the work is being done, don’t forget to factor in the 4-6 months it will take you to get permits, during which your house is sitting and you’re paying mortgage and rent. And renewing a kitchen could be anything from painting cabinets and getting a new fridge for $4k to re-configuring, plumbing and redoing the entire thing for $50k. It’s impossible to estimate without knowing the scope of work.

Dacuba, expect a range of $175/sqft to $250/sqft for construction. $175 for a basic approach and higher as you move towards more design & more expensive finishes. The scope of work is not far off from a full gut as the central air and electrical work will affect all areas. Also bear in mind that the project will be filed and subject to architect’s and expeditor’s fees.

can you google the archives. also, this is not a condo forum and contractors can build in extra for nuisance of delivering insurance as well as dealing w8th a bunch of board members and rules, possible restrictions on working hours, needing to use elevator, damage to other units or common areas. So as you can see any things that are not brownstone related.
