Installing cable TV hookups

I’m considering buying an old brownstone that needs a lot of work.  I haven’t confirmed this yet, but I think that there are no hookups for cable tv in the entire house (3 floors).  It looks like Verizon Fios isn’t available in the location but Time Warner Cable is.  I’ve only ever lived in rental apartments and know very little about home improvement stuff.  Can anyone advise me on what would need to be done, who would do this work (Time Warner or someone else we hire), how long the install would take, and approximately what it would cost.  The walls have all been recently dry-walled with new insulation in so nothing else needs to be done behind the walls.  Thanks!

so the flipper who bought the house and is reselling didn’t think of this. If we get the place and just want to install cable at this point, running through the walls as you suggest, any idea how much this would cost to do on three floors?

For those who read this, the time to wire a house is before the drywall has been installed. Yes the cable guys will install unsightly wires stapled to baseboards and god knows where else. Butcher job is too kind. Better for a very little amount of money, pull “home runs” in the walls from many locations to a central wiring closet. Even pulling combination wire/optic cable is relatively cheap. The technology for fiber inside your house does not exist yet, but future proofing is cheap. Fiber optic terminations, and terminations of wiring is the pricey part, which you don’t need to do at this point. Ten years ago we cabled libraries for optic, and the cable is still “dark”. But if the technology ever arrives, all they have to do is terminate the ends.

If you call TWC for cable tv / internet service, they’ll do the installation – a small charge depending on how many locations you need cable  (possibly free if they get you on an annual contract?). They want you as a customer so they don’t hit you with a big cost up front. Typically they’ll do it the easiest installation possible, from the pole to your house, then run along the exterior to the nearest point  where you want the connection and drill a hole thru the wall or window frame to make the interior wiring minimal.
