Good general contractor for brownstone renovation/restoration.

We are getting ready to renovate a small townhouse (2200 square feet) with an eye to preserving historic details and retaining the original layout as well as re-building some details that were lost or removed. We are not going crazy on mechanicals at all but will convert the oil-burning furnace/hot water heater and move/remove three electric meters that were put in. All in all it will involve three full bathrooms, one kitchen, a laundry room and a gut reno/finished basement.

Thanks guys,do you recommend any Design-Build firms or Architects? We do not want to file the job and are not changing any partition wall layouts etc. so really don’t want to spend too much on renderings. We are not doing anything to the facade at this time since it is in really good shape.

I’m with August. You really want to get the plans first. There are a lot of Design-Build companies in the area.

Do you have architectural plans? Otherwise it will be challenging to get reliable quotes.
