Facade paint removal

We have a 4 story brick co-op that has a nasty brown coat of paint on the whole front exterior. Ideally we’d like to strip the paint and expose the brick (plus aren’t bricks supposed to breathe?). If that’s not an option, then have it reprinted. Does anyone have any suggestions for contractors that handle this size job? As well, a very rough estimate of what were looking at, money-wise? I’d imagine there would be permits needed as well as insurance? Thanks for your help. -j

Now listen up. You can be headed towards a BIG no no. Once you remove that paint, a painter is going to give you some cock and bull paint story. I am an expert in materials and historic properties. You can only use what is called a silicate ester water glass component. I want you to investigate: Keim Paint company. This paint is specially designed to last at least 100 years on masonry substrates. if you investigate this product? you will use it. caution, its very expensive but golden in its ability. I think many people do this job without permits. Contractors put paint remover on the facade, let it sit, then power wash it off. You want to make sure they protect your neighbors’ facades. I think this cost me somewhere around 1200 12 years ago? That might have included repointing, painting the lintels and the cornice.
