cost to remove laundry ladder?

I have a four-story laundry ladder in my yard. Would love to remove it — what are the costs to do so, and do I need permits? Thanks!

These ladders can be as high as your building. If you have a tree to tie down the top half it should be an easy job.

You may not need a permit for its removal but if you’re on a landmark block I would consult with the LPC.  They have the abilty to force you to retain a fire escape when it’s part of the architectual ‘character’ of the structure (even if you don’t need it as a legal means of egress from the building).  It’s safe to assume that the same interpretation will be applied to laundry ladders.

cost: one day laborer and either one grinder w/ cutting wheel or reciprocating saw with metla blade. a shovel if you want do dig out part in ground.  cut in half, or querters, place ad on craigslist that free metal is in your front yard (or give to day laborer for scrap value).  easy peasy.

You don’t need a permit, and assuming it is made of metal, you can probably have scrap guys remove it for free — they’ll make their money in selling the metal.
