Brownstone Renovation at the movies--VICTORIANA

There’s a great film in the Brooklyn Film Festival (BFF) entitled VICTORIANA shot in Park Slope that captures both the dreams and dark side of brownstone renovation projects. What begins as the classic American dream turns in to a Doskoyevskian nightmare when the owner is involved in a confrontation that takes a chilling turn of events. Faced with financial ruin, the couple makes a fateful decision that launches a police investigation and forces the young couple to confront dark truths about themselves and their marriage. Directed by Jadrien Steele, a Brooklyn based film maker, VICTORIANA is the story of thwarted dreams, morally compromised decisions and the dire price that they ultimately extract. VICTORIANA was the winner of the 2014 Cinequest Film Festival’s New Visions Award. It’s screening Saturday, June 7th @ 8PM at the BFF’s Williamsburg venue.
