Bonding Iron Fireplace Surround to Marble
Does anyone have a suggestion on what to use to mount an iron fireplace surround to marble? An epoxy or silicone or something else? Any advice would be appreciated.

All relative to the weight. If its a light surround, silicone may be ok. If its substantial, find a craftsmen experienced to simply do it for you. If i was up there..i would help for free. Richmond Va. bellofattore.com My son is up there in Brooklyn Andre, enormously talented presently working for Matthew Barney (sculptor) he may help you out…you would love him!!!feed him as well! 804 380 1534 andre ponticello

Mine are not bonded to the marble. There are 2 concrete nails in the inside side walls of the fire box (firebrick) and 2 pieces of thick wire wire attached to the inside of the iron surround (I think there are loops inside the surround that the wire is through). Each wire wraps around a nail. Neither wire or nails are visible unless you’re right up to the fp looking in (as in lighting the fire). That was how the fp contractor did it 30 years ago and it’s worked fine.
