Bluestone and Gas Lines

I have original bluestone sidewalk and want to have nat gas run into the house. Anyone have experience with getting the gas line in without destroying the bluestone? Raplh

We just had our sewer line replaced and repaired our landmarked bluestone sidewalk. Express Plumbing did the sewer work and WP Bluestone did the sidewalk. We were very happy with both companies– their craftsmanship, reliability, even dealing with the recent blizzard that hampered the work midway.

Yes, the slabs will likely need to be lifted. Make sure you hire someone experienced for this. They can split in half if not treated carefully.

check with who will be doing the install. now a days a lot of people who are running pipes beneath sidewalks are able to blast the pipe under the walk with compressed air and feed it along. I am not sure how far of a distance they can do that, but they did it with a water main under my neighbors side walk. Steve

Usually they put a valve in the sidewalk so they can close the gas line running into the house in case of an emergency or what ever. You’ll probably have to hire someone to remove a slab or two of bluestone and than put it back in when they’re done running the gas line.
