bathroom reno recommendation

Our two bathrooms need attention. We have the original sinks and tubs, floor tiles and marble wainscotting, which is charming–but after 115 years, they are in rather poor shape–scratched, chipped, dirty beyond the usual cleaning. I’d like to save what I can, so I’m looking for a contractor who can advise on whether the tubs can be “refinished” successfully, if the old marble wainscotting can be re-honed or something and re-installed without the gaps in the seams, etc. I know many would prefer just to gut and start again. Any recommendations?

We just finished re-doing two bathrooms in our house – one of which we chose to refinish the clawfoot tub. Porcelain Industries http://porcelainindustries.com/ re-did the tub inside and out and it looks amazing [this wasn’t cheap though]. I would also highly recommend our contractor Chris Lombardi 516 322 9060 who did a great job and really kept the mess to a minimum

I had a similar situation and I hired a contractor who told me he could restore them and did a horrible job. I would say do a gut renovation.

Some time it is hard to salvage antique stuff. I had an old and nice antique tub but was not able to save due to its age. I used CTG Construction to do my house renovation but he builded for because I did not want to use current tub in the market. They did a great job and call this number 718-669-8305 and ask for Millad. He is very good guy and pleasnt guys to work with. Good luck!
