Estate Sale Coordinator
Hello. Can anyone recommend a coordinator for an estate sale in Westchester County (NY)? I am packing up my grandparents’ house in Port Chester. The Forum archives are mum on the topic, and I’ve only found one company through internet searches. Thanks, ‘Stoners.

I’m not sure if “coordinator” or “planner” is the right word, but I am talking about an estate sale (as in selling wood furniture, vintage items, etc.) not selling the house. We are keeping the house and have had it appraised. After dividing up the belongings that have personal meaning, and making several large donations, we are left with other nice objects to sell through an estate sale. Thanks for your help.

Why do you need a “coordinator”? The executor(s) should hire a broker to sell the house like one would for any other sale. Executors may need to hire an appraiser for estate tax evaluation purposes anyway, so you should know the approximate value of the house. Can you explain why you think you need a coordinator and/or what they would do?
