Wow did Bill DeBlasio just sell out to a crooked landlord?!

I was a big time DeBlasio supporter until I heard about this. The more I researched the more disgusted I became. How can I support a guy like this? I mean I am an avowed Democrat but Lhota does have the upper hand in knowing how to run a big bureaucracy. So now that I am finding out that DeBlasio is cutting deals with some REALLY sleazy people, what credibility does he have? I saw a truck in Bay Ridge with Illinois plates and “Union” types sitting in it and advertising Bill DeBlasio. That was huge turn off. The last thing I want is Illinois unions turning this city.

I am just really shocked right now. I thought I knew what DeBlasio stood for but I guess I was naive. Would I vote for Lhota? Maybe, probably not..but I am having serious reservations about voting DeBlasio now whereas before my vote for him was a lock. bk… We are having a civil conversation on policy and candidate suitability. To answer your question, no. I would not have been less dismayed.

So you as a progressive are thinking of voting for Lhota? Given his position on stop and frisk, transportation policy, education or taxation, I find that hard to believe. Or are you suggesting to vote for one of the minor candidates as a protest vote? I guess I am bk1inte in that I don’t follow your reasoning at all. But then I am smiling as a type this because the only thing that makes sense is that you don’t really exist, and are some sort of weird wool foot clothing.

Putnamdenizen, I guess it was a post about policy but tinged with disbelief. I kind of thought DeBlasio would be more compassionate in dealing with the homeless situation. Bloomberg’s policies are atrocious. And disbelief in that DeBlasio is tacitly supporting (by taking money from Lapes) the inhumane warehousing of humans for profit, carried out by Mr.Lapes. The whole connection between Lapes and Housing Solutions has been well documented and it stinks, really stinks. It’s plain dirty business and people are upset because it is so apparent and yet condoned. It’s the feeling of helplessness that I think is so upsetting. bkchestguy.. No I’m not a sock puppet. I’m just really dismayed and I’m not so blind as to keep an open mind and vote for the best candidate instead of voting the party line.

This was published 6 weeks ago, before the primary… I didn’t read in the article about De Blasio cutting deals with sleazy people. What I did read: Lapes was frank about his reasons for giving. “This is the guy who is going to win,” he recalls Lapes saying. “This is the guy to bet on.” So, SRO landlords cutting checks were betting on the winner. “progressive”? or Joe Lhotta supporter sock puppet?

So how are you going to respond to it? You should worry about the misuse of public funds, and how the powerful chow down at the public trough. The support seems to be one way in the article (slumlords writing checks to de Blasio). Does anyone have a sense whom de Blasio will pick for head of homeless services? I guess this is why I didn’t have a huge problem when a supportive housing project went up down the streets – a far better use of my tax dollars and solution for the homeless than the kind of warehouses this article discusses. Uh, you were trying to spark a real policy discussion weren’t you?
