Split AC and Plaster Walls

Has anyone ever had a mini split a/c system (with multiple handlers/one compressor) installed in a house with plaster/lathe walls? Did the installers hide the tubing in the walls or place under cover outside the walls? Also, anyone who had the compressor higher than one of the air handlers? Was a condensate pump installed and if so, where? Thanks very much!

Ok. Well. Here we are then. You CANNOT ATTACH ANYTHING TO A CHIMNEY in NYC. Furthermore if the condenser is to be roof mounted it must mount on adequate structural supports securely fastened or bearing on the exterior walls or dedicated posts. Condensate pumps can push 20 feet of head at most. On a good day. So forget the roof. Use gravity. It’s free and it doesn’t wear out. We are Mitsubishi Certified Installers.

You can put the compressor on the roof if it has small tonnage. It can be affixed to a very secure chimney. If the air handler is near an outside wall the line set, electric and condensate lines run out the back of the house. A line set cover is placed over them to protect against squirrels who like to use the insulation. If the air handler is on an inside wall a water pump can take the condensate to the roof. Interior line sets can be covered if they go a long distance. They can be boxed in for aesthetics.
