sound proofing interior wall
Hi, I,m looking for advice on sound proofing a few interior rooms on a new construction row house. I’ve heard about extra drywall, soundboard, mass loaded vinyl, and insulation as well as green glue. Any thoughts on which way to go. Frames are aleady up. And money is definately a concern. I think I can live with 500 sq feet of coverage. thanks

Double drywall with batts of insulation in the stud cavities

Double drywall is as effective as quiet rock at much less cost. It’s also more effective if the sound dampening measures are taken on the sound producing side.

It’s very difficult to get “sound proof” but you can get sound reducing with products like Quietrock and green glue. If you want true sound proof it will be expensive and you will be giving up some floor space.
