Selling in Bed Stuy

I have been reading a lot about the “hot market” in Bed-Stuy and thinking about selling. I own a three story brownstone in the recently expanded historic district about a 10 minute walk to the Utica Ave A train station. It is a renovated home with lots of charm, but not overly done. I love the area, but have been told my home could fetch upwards of 1 million. I have never actually sold a home before and frankly did not have the best experience with brokers in the past. Can anyone recommend a good broker who really understands the neighborhood?

I highly recommend Anthony Morris with Corcoran. He lives in Bed Stuy and knows the area very well. We’re buyers, not sellers. We’re not competitive in this market, but he didn’t give up on us and was able to find a deal that work for our needs and budget. Point being, he doesn’t give in to obstacles and will work hard to get you what you want. He’s also a comedian, so he’s fun to work with.

I’m sure _everyone_ is interested in mostly working with sellers these days. There’s so little inventory and so much demand that almost any listing is a guaranteed sale.

My husband and I worked with Alex Maroni at Douglas Elliman when we purchased our home in Bed-Stuy 2 years ago. He knows the neighborhood very well and is most interested in working with sellers. You should definitely speak with him. We really enjoyed working with him (he had found us our apartment in Park Slope years before so when we were looking to buy we called on him again) and remain in touch.

As a frequent buyer of BK real estate and knowing all the brokerage firms, Corcoran does the best job of marketing properties, especially townhouses. Try Megan Skelton at Corcoran (just look her up under agents at Corcoran.com), she was a real estate consultant in Bed-Stuy, Crown Hts, Clinton Hill, etc. for all types of buyers and sellers for quite some time and is far most sophisticated than the firms/names mentioned above based on my personal interaction with them. Most agents are price takers, she will bring you buyers to you and I wouldn’t use anyone else for the properties I own in the area. Many agents will also throw unrealistic numbers at you to get you to sign with them (can’t blame them), and the current listings show it, thus the reason there have been so many price drops as of late, so not knowing anything else about your home, you are better off getting the facts up front instead of wasting time and money on unrealistic numbers as good as they sound.
