rbny broker?

can a rbny broker refuse to co-broke with a non rbny broker? had an interesting situation last week where a rbny broker refused to deal with a non-rbny broker.

There are too many non-REBNY brokers in BK that won’t co-broke on listings so seems like turnaround is fair play. REBNY has been trying to use the larger firms to impose its rules across the board and as the BK market matures its probably going to happen.

Not sure if it’s kosher, but it’s happened to me. I got my NYS real estate license when I lived upstate for a few years and that broker is still holding my license. I never bothered to switch to a REBNY broker down here because I don’t often act as salesperson. But long story short, I’ve been told by REBNY brokers that they only deal with REBNY, which I feel is just their way of getting out of splitting the commission…nothing more.
