private roof deck on Brooklyn brownstone

I am buying a brownstone in a Bed stuy and need info on code/regulations? My home is 20×45\. What is the max size allowable? Building materials recommended? Fencing needed? Access to roof deck code…ladder ok from inside to roof deck? I want to make sure this is all legal. Is there a DOB code/website I can access? Thank you very much for any information/advice provided.

Other construction related issues: Reinforce existing roof structure as necessary. Make sure the roofing is in good shape before the deck is built. Non-combustible materials for deck, steel, composite decking and possibly ipe.

You will need a permit, stair up to the roof, size is limited by you and your roofs limitations, a guardrail and access for FDNY.
