Planes over Park Slope

I am finding the planes over my building relentless and can barely get any work done. They are flying very low about every 30-45 seconds. I called Schumer’s office and the NYC Environmental Dept who told me to complain to 311 or they can’t do anything about it. Wondering if anyone else has called to complain and what they have been told. thanks!

they fly directly over us down in Bay Ridge, albeit at a higher altitude. For some reason on full cloud cover days the planes approach much lower…… and it is freakin LOUD. On clear days the planes are barely noticeable here.

@dancingal mostly us airline pilots do it cuz we are all Fox News watching right wing nuts and we love to make all the brooklyn lefty libs squirm. Ok joking aside; the assigned altitudes when landing to the north on runway 4 are the same. We can’t and do not usually stray from that. When we are landing runway 31 on the “expressway visual approach” our ground track is very similar to the approach to 4 but we are at a higher altitude. It is true that it may seem more constant the past week or so. We have mostly been landing runway 4 because of the prevailing winds coming out of the north. We should all be very happy and feel lucky that LGA rarely if ever uses runway 22 to depart from. Take offs are MUCH noisier than landings and that flight path is right over the slope. So all in all it could be much worse. 🙂

August is correct, it has always been an issue for as long as I can remember, but last week it was especially bad. The planes were constant and flying very low, I could wave to the passengers. Today is much better! Midway Flyer, could you tell me why sometimes the planes are flying so much lower than others?

It has changed in the last months, it’s more often and more frequent. Aircraft noise is by far the loudest and most intrusive sound, because it it is a special type of noise hitting your house from 3 sides. Planes fly over north Brooklyn every 45 seconds for 6 hours straight. I’m sure real estate agents will stop showing apartments in the flight track on heavy flight days. It is affecting the value of your property. It is terrible and everyone saying that this is no problem shut up or meet with me for a good old fistfight

The weather lately has been favoring runway 4 at LGA. The approach for this runway has planes flying right over the park area. Whenever I fly this approach I can look down and see my house. You can try calling and complaining but you will mostly get placated. The vor, ILS and rnav approaches to that runway have not changed track for many years and likely won’t change. We live within 10 miles of one of the busiest airports in the world and it is unfortunately something we have to accept, like crowded streets and subways. Full disclosure; I am an airline pilot based at LGA. Sorry.

Call the traffic control tower and ask to speak to the chief controller. If you provide your address they can request the airplanes in that area fly higher.
