Opinion on $2,500 faux lawn installation quote ?

Hi all, We’ve been quoted $2,500 for synthetic grass installation for a 9×25 space. It’s supposedly high end — don’t know the brand yet — and would include leveling, preparation, installation and labor. Does that seem expensive? We had installed real lawn sod in May, but a combination of our inability to care for it properly and a nonstop parade of feral cats and their daily deposits of crap has left it about one third dead. Additionally, will higher end synthetic sod deter cats from using as a litter box. We had really cheap astroturf last summer and rarely picked up after them, but they’ve been loving the lawn and digging it up, while using as kitty latrine. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Thanks for the feedback. Wish we had gone this route in the beginning. We spent several hundred dollars having real lawn sod put in in May, which seems wasteful now, not to mention all the watering and time spent doing it.

This sounds about right to be as well. We had synthetic grass installed in an even smaller portion of yard and it came out a bit more. It did, however, include all installation and clean-up. We used a type that was actually specifically made for dogs–I believe it is antibacterial and made to drain more efficiently. It was also less expensive than the deluxe non-canine option. You might want to look into this if you have a lot of feral cats visiting your yard…

Doesn’t sound bad. good synthetic grass will be $4-$6 a sq ft in material cost alone. That doesn’t include whatever material they use under it.
