i live nearby and have never felt unsafe, but I am also rarely out late at night.

Thanks Randolf! I did see that and was actually in the area the next morning. I mostly concerned with the safety of the area in regards to muggings, robberies,break-ins etc. While I know the bigger crimes, like last weekend’s do exist, it’s the day to day safety I’m concerned with. Thanks for your feedback.

this happened a few days ago, one block away http://www.nytimes.com/2016/02/21/nyregion/two-nypd-officers-are-shot-in-brooklyn.html?_r=0 that said, stuyvessant is a much nicer street than malcolm x. mainly residential vs malcolm x which is mostly commercial.
