Liens

Does Acris show liens other than government? Such as those filed by contractors? If you don’t see any on Acris, does that mean there aren’t any?

ACRIS would not show a judgment, mechanic’s lien, or lis pendens, for example. You can perform a UCC search on the NYS site (https://appext20.dos.ny.gov/pls/ucc_public/web_search.main_frame) That will pull up Article 9 liens, notices of federal tax liens, and liens filed under Article 10-A of the New York Lien Law. The UCC filings and tax liens should also come up on ACRIS. You also can go down to the Kings County Clerk’s office at 360 Adams or pay to have a lien/judgment search performed (you do not need a title search, which is more expensive). Hope this helps.

No, Acris does not necessarily have all liens. Visit the courthouse at 360 Adams for a more complete listing of liens which may also not include absolutely everything (ecourt is NOT a comprehensive view, there’s much more at the county clerks office.) A title search should cover most of it.
