homeowners rights regarding neighbors construction

Can anyone offer advice on homeowners rights regarding neighbors construction situation? Our neighbors- a condo building next to us needs to re-do their exterior stucco wall adjacent to 3 story house. This wall goes alongside of our patio over a 1st fl roof extension, and above our top/ 3rd floor roof. The condo needs to erect scaffolding in front of our property, and probably in back on our patio for 6 weeks. Are we entitled to compensation? I am worried that they will do damage, cause our tenants to bitch, cause water problems in future for us, if they dont re-flash our roof properly, etc. We agreed to have construction guy who will build scaffolding and property manager over next week. Any advice I what I should insist on? Get in writing?

They should have insurance and name you as additional insured for any work they do on your property (scaffolding). Regarding compensation: relax. You might need your neighbors’ cooperation when your time for renovation comes…be neighborly
